The Ocean Data and Information Network for the Central Indian Ocean aims at promoting and assisting with the development of oceanographic data and information management capacity in national ocean research institutions in the Central Indian Ocean region. This involves assisting in the development of National Oceanographic Data (and Information) Centres (NODCs) that cooperate within the framework of the International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) network of oceanographic data and information centres. These centres take responsibility for managing data/information (quality control, archiving, dissemination), developing data/information products and participate in the development of international standards for the exchange, documentation and quality control of data/information. |
